Final Debates: Make or Break Your Grade

Never mind the lingo, just bear with me.....

I am not saying I am a great debater. I am saying my partner is not.

Guess what?

My team did our final debate today. Wow. My partner. Wow.

Our original affirmative team didn't show up, so we debate against a different thrown-together affirmative team. One of them being a usual negative. They never read through their plan, so it should be an easy win, right?! NO!!! We probably lost because my partner doesn't really know what is going on. She read evidence that supported our opponent's case. She says "what should I do" all the time. She was VERY rude during cross ex. Then, when I said "You can't be rude!", she said, the other girl was rude. It was the other girl's cross ex! SHE IS ALLOWED TO CUT YOU OFF! Then she accused me of not being there. Rrright. Since I was in the room. She says phrases like "and stuff". She just mutters things if she doesn't know how to say them, words like "explicit" and "instructions". She doesn't flow. AHHHHHHHH....

Oh, and everyone knows what "concede" means, right? Right. WRONG! Not my partner. She said, "We concede on inherecy, but we also win it." Yeah, that doesn't make sense. At all. [concede means give up, which Kerry did to Bush, yeah!].

Yeah, I feel like we failed. And it wasn't because of me this time. Sure, I said "um" and "they" a few times. I am not perfect, either. I have my flaws. That is not my point. The point is, she doesn't know how to debate.

This is the truth too, I am not trying to make me look good. I promise.

what I realized today.

I was sitting in church, toward the back with my family. My grandparents are in town, as well as my uncle, aunt, and cousin.

I'm sitting there singing, just praising God. Then, I suddenly feel really content inside. I felt like God was telling me that it really doesn't matter where I am. The point of life is really all about God, in the long-run. We get caught up in the here-and-now so much. I miss you guys so much, and I would definitely come back to Decatur any day, but I felt peace there, in church. God is God everywhere, and He doesn't change if you leave one place and go to another.

It is a real eye-opener, that you guys were worshiping God there, while I was worshiping Him here. God is HUGE! He is amazing. I don't know if that is so cool for you, but it is and was for me.

God Bless,
Jordan

I miss you guys!

No way, Seth & Narnia

SETH! nice post. but guess what? I hate my school as well, and was thinking about the charter school here! I don't think I will, but that is weird.

So, I am PUMPED about The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe coming out soon! (December) It is gonna rock. For those that don't know, its coming out redone, kind of like Lord Of The Rings style. A few women in our church redid our youth room, so it looks like Narnia! IT IS SO AMAZING! Seriously, its cool. REALLY cool.

Well, I will talk to you later

Madison Outreach

I am so wiped out! I just got back from Madison about 15 minutes ago. My youth group did an outreach there. Five people went. Katie, Stephanie, Erin, my dad, and me. It was really cool. It was out of a new church called The Journey. http://www.thejourneycommunity.com/

Friday: Arrival and walking/praying around the capital.

Saturday: Clean up around the city. (Beer cans, other gross things, cups, etc., my dad found a cathater bag.) Then do service projects. We cleaned out a lady's basement. It was cool. Then went around parts of the city inviting people to The Journey, and hanging these door things on doorknobs. Fun. Then supper, and off to State Street to talk to people and take a survey and just be with people in the community. Either this or the next thing we did was my favorite.

Today, Sunday: In the morning, we did an outreach with the kids in a housing project. It was amazing. The kids were so cool. After that, everyone except us went to feed the homeless. We had to leave because a girl had to work, Katie. But on the way home, she found out she didn't have to work. Kind of annoying. But this weekend was pretty fun.

I decided I love helping people.

God Bless,
Jordan

Thursday, the 13th.

So, where are Joel, Austin, Seth, Jay, and Candace's blog entries?

Okay, today is another school day. I am really getting tired of the repetition. NOTHING changes from day-to-day. I am in a Pre-ACT class this week, its pretty cool. I am taking that this year, and again next year along with the PSAT class. It is to get a better score on the tests. Pretty cool.

Uh...there isn't much else going on here. I got a new coat. It's really warm. We paid $79 which isn't bad for a winter coat, I guess. Then I looked at the price tag. Originally $245!!!!! That is a TON of money! At least I think. So, we got it for a huge discount.

Well, I would really enjoy a visit! Haha...I really want to visit you guys, I hope it happens really soon. Well, I need to finish getting ready for the day.

God Bless.

Homework, practicing, sleeping, singing, smiling, crying...life

It seems like life's like that sometimes...kind of like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're gonna bite into next. School is entirely frustrating right now. Jordan, I can 100% relate to your last post, and you lists of dislikes, although I daresay I could add a few if I had the courage to voice what I've seen and heard. Crazy stuff.
This weekend's been nice. We had a half day Friday and have today off too. I've been busying myself with studying for an upcoming history test, catching up on my Bible reading, practicing my flute, reading my novel, etc. Last night I spent the evening and night with Heather Cos. I had a terribly embarassing moment when we decided to go bikeriding. After getting all changed into excercise clothes, getting the bikes out, and securing our helmets, we took off...down the driveway, into the street, past the first few houses, put on the brake a bit to slow myself down...and BOOM...complete wipe-out. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I was ticked at myself. so we basically biked like twenty feet and then turned around. I spent the rest of the night in not quite tip-top shape, with a skinned knee, a torn up hand, and a hunk of humiliation.
O well, can't have it all perfectly. Speaking of perfect, I need to go clean my room, which is anything but that right now. Talk to you guys later...keep in touch.

Cool story.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=ncf&id=2182042

Check out this story. My brother, Chris, goes to this college, and is at one of the games right now.

si, mucho frio.

i know that si means if and si with an accent mark means yes, but i just dont feel like typing it with an accent mark.

okay, well yesterday morning i woke up early for school, went out with Maddie, and noticed something weird. there was a little SNOW coming down. I am serious. It was very light, but obviously snow. It melted when it hit the ground. My busdriver said she actually had snow on her deck (she lives 15-20 miles north of Rhinelander). So, that was very eye-opening, that it lightly snowed on October 8. They say they usually have snow before Halloween.

I went to the Homecoming game last night, you know, the football one? haha. We won! It was 28-22. It was really intense toward the end. There were three touchdowns scored in the last three minutes. It was crazy.

Some things I don't like about public school:
  • Hearing people use a swear word just about every third word they say.
  • Watching girls degrade themselves by dancing provocatively.
  • Make-outs in the halls.
  • Pregnant girls. (I like them, I don't like how they are pregnant, its sad)

Some things I like about public school:
  • Football.
  • All the opportunities.
  • School spirit.

Some funny things I heard/saw at the game:
  • From a guy to his girlfriend, "I like your hands. These look like volleyball, softball, and basketball hands." HAHA i just wanted to laugh. and point.
  • At one of the last touchdowns, I looked over, and this girl and guy were making out. Kind of grossed me out, but it was just lame, you had to be there to see them!
  • A guy was so hodag-crazy he had someone paint green and white stripes on him, and he went to the game without a shirt. And the other kid that was supposed to go with him, dressed the same didn't show. So he was the only one there without a shirt and it was FREEZING cold. Seriously, it was very cold.

Well, talk to you soon!

Wow...this thing is updated CONSTANTLY!

Well, I am just going to talk to you all about my last billion years i have lived, because if has obviously been that long since I have blogged. haha...

Anyways, well, Saturday, we had our first debate tournament at Wausau West. My team won one of three rounds, we should have won two! The aff's plan didnt make sense at all! It was annoying. (the judge was new, haha, jk). Whatever. At least we won one. It was fun! Debate is hard work, but its extremely fun. Well, the Packers game is on right now. We are losing pretty bad. WE NEED A VICTORY! ahhhh...its driving me crazy...

Sunday, Michael had his soccer tournament and his team got 1st. Then, Sunday night was a talent show. It was pretty good! Most of them were good, but there were a couple that werent so amazing, haha.

Well, hopefully I will talk to you soon! I wish I could hang out with you, you have no idea how much I miss that.

Your friend,
Jordan
